Vermilion Cliffs

The Vermilion Cliffs are on the Arizona Strip, north of the Grand Canyon. I’ve gotten to spend a bit of time there, looking at the colors and forms, but this is purely imaginary geology, even though it’s one of the most painterly pieces I’ve done in recent years. The little circle on the right is a shisha mirror attached to a scrap of hand-dyed fabric from India.
